All qualified PCV & LGV Driver must do 35 hours of periodic training every 5 years to keep their Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC.) The training must be carried out in the country that they work or are resident in. All drivers have a legal requirements to attend 35 hours “periodic training “This would be achieved by attending 5 x 7 hour modules over a 5 year period.
Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (DCPC)
Professional drivers of LGV’s and PCV’s across Europe must now have an additional qualification besides their vocational driving licence.
For new drivers the qualification is acquired by examination, but drivers who have held their full LGV/PCV licence before September 2009 do not need to take examination. They are assumed “acquired rights” and therefore only need to attend 35 hours “periodic training” to be completed before September 2013 for PCV and September 2014 for LGV holders. This would be achieved by attending 5 x 7 hour modules.
